St. Joseph Cathedral is joining many churches throughout Louisiana and worldwide in celebrating what has become known as “Bambinelli Sunday.”
Following an annual custom begun by the late St. (Pope) John Paul II and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and continued by Pope Francis in Rome on the Third Sunday of Advent, the cathedral clergy will bless the bambinelli.
Bishop Michael G. Duca and Rev. J. Cary Bani invite families to bring a figurine of the Baby Jesus, particularly from their home Nativity Créche, to the Cathedral for a special blessing at the 8:30 am and 10:30 am Masses this Sunday, December 15.
This event isn’t just for young children; single adults, parents, and grandparents also can participate and bring their Baby Jesus figurine to be blessed.
St. Joseph Cathedral is located at 401 Main Street in downtown Baton Rouge. For more information, contact the Parish Office, (225) 387-5928,[email protected].
