Wednesday, March 19, marks the Feast of St. Joseph, the patronal saint of St. Joseph Cathedral and the Diocese of Baton Rouge. Following tradition, a St. Joseph Altar with food and religious symbols by parish volunteers will be set in the cathedral church located at 401 Main Street in downtown Baton Rouge.
Visitors and parishioners may view the Altar from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Wednesday for personal prayer and devotion and participate in a Noontime Mass, celebrated as a solemnity in the Cathedral. Bishop Michael G. Duca of Baton Rouge, with Cathedral Rector the Rev. J. Cary Bani concelebrating, will bless the Altar during the liturgy. Following Mass, all are invited to the Parish Hall to enjoy a traditional St. Joseph’s Day meal prepared by parish volunteers and friends. The “meatless” meal is free and open to the public.
